When Jesus was on earth He had friends named Mary, Martha and Lazarus. While Jesus was away from Bethany- which was where His friends lived- Lazarus became very sick. When Jesus found out,l He stayed where He was and Lazarus ended up dying. He went back to Bethany a few days after Lazarus's death while everyone was mourning. Jesus was touched deeply by Mary's tears over her brothers death and instructed men to remove the stone that had kept Lazarus in his grave. They did as He said and Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.
Though the family had been in pain when their brother had died, the purpose had been for God's glory. Because of this many people believed in Jesus (John 12:11). The more that people heard about this man who had raised someone from the dead, the more they wanted to know Him and the more they came to know Him, the more people believed in Him. Jesus had done something so miraculous that people couldn't help but trust Him.
Don't we have so much more to boast about? Jesus died so we could live. Our sins? Taken care of. Our shame, guilt and pain? Taken care of. Death? Taken care of. When something that good happens, our only response should be to tell others. To spread the word about this Nazarene man we call Jesus. What He did was so amazing that we shouldn't even be able to contain ourselves when we speak about Him.
When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, the Pharisees said "Look how the world has gone after him!" (John 12:19).
I guess that makes sense, doesn't it? When people hear about something so great they go after it, because as humans we desire goodness and greatness. And what's better than Jesus? So beloved- go. Tell. Tell others about what He's done. Because the result of telling others about this man is a world who will run after Him.
What could be better?
