The heart is a very complex thing- especially for women. Eve was created from Adam and Adam was to protect her. Since the beginning men have been called to provide and protect their women. They have been called to lay down their lives- to love tenderly. And yet, this is not always the love that we see our men portraying today. They often use and abuse. They manipulate their power to harm instead of to hold. And though it is sad that many are losing their true sense of how to be a proper man, we must also focus on something else- this is not how women were created to be loved.
Men were designed to protect and pursue the crown of God's creation- us. 1 Timothy 6:11 says "But as for you, o man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness." Quite different from today, isn't it? Where men are told to pursue sex, lust, greed and money. They have begun to forget what they are supposed to do.
Genesis 2:24 says "that is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife." You see, the man is called to pursue the woman. But it seems we have forgotten that, and in result there is a generation of women who pursue men rising out of the ashes of our forgetfulness. Rising is a generation who leave their parents to pursue the "man of their dreams". Rising is a generation who dress down to attract men when the bible says "likewise also that woman should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self control." (1 Timothy 2:9) Rising is a lost, sad and lonely generation who don't know that their hearts are made to be honoured and cherished. And due to that lack of knowledge, ladies are seeking love anywhere they can find it- on street corners and bars, in other people's husbands and under-the-table drug deals. They are seeking desperately for love and coming home with broken hearts and a deep, aching loneliness that will not go away. They are starving themselves and changing themselves and killing themselves because this air-brushed version of perfected love isn't actually, well- it isn't actually love.
Even if women don't know how they're meant to be treated, inside each and every one of them is an irresistible longing to be loved passionately. To be loved endlessly. To be loved just as they are. And though many of them try to satisfy this heart-shaking desire with things such as clothes, sex and food, the raw reality is that none of those things will ever, ever be enough. It's like trying to jam the wrong puzzle piece in place. Because the only thing that can ever satisfy this relentless longing is Jesus. Purely, simply, Jesus.
When women seek other things for happiness, it always- without fail- results in pain. It results in brokenness. Because they don't need a paper bill or white powder or condoms- they need Jesus.
Men, where are you? Where are you? Because I look around and I see a devastating amount of ladies who are beyond lost. I see pain. I see anger. I see frustration. Look, I know that you've got it hard. The media has designed everything to entice you and bring up your lustful desires. It's difficult, I know. But you are called to be greater. You are called to be stronger. You are called to protect. When you think "oh, it's too hard... women can take care of themselves." you're listening to Satan. We need you. We women were not called to stand alone. Do you want to be a true man? Shut off the porn and pick up your bible. God is calling you to something bigger. He's calling you to fight a massive battle that Satan is waging on the female gender. The important question is
Will you answer Him?
