"Every moment of my life God,
You never left my side
Every valley, every storm
You were there, You were there
I don't need to know what's next
You'll be with me every step
Through it all, through it all
I can see You carry me"
I just graduated. It was a big deal, I guess. After 13 years at the same school, I was saying good bye and moving on. Everyone made it seem like everything was about to change- which is true, in a sense. Things are about to change. Big time. It's a new start, which can be pretty scary for some people. No more depending on mom and dad. No more sleepovers. People are right- things aren't going to be the same anymore. But if there's anything I've noticed through this time, it's that God? He doesn't change. Ever. Sure, I graduated. But my God is the same God who was with me when I walked into that school, and He didn't change when I walked out.
Human relationships, I've realized, change depending on circumstances. They change depending on where you live, how you act, how much money you have, who you know or don't know and so much more. God, however, remains the same. He was the same when I won a soccer game and the same when I lost one. He was the same when my parents were together and when they got divorced. He was the same when I was in primary and the same when I was in grade 12. He has always been constant. Has always been a rock.
No one makes it to the age of 18 without the storms of life breaking their heart at least once. No one makes it to the age of 18 without getting in a fight with their friends or family. Because the thing about life, and this world, is that it's always changing. Always shifting. Always moving forward. But the thing about God is that He will always protect, always love, always remain.
I guess this post isn't really to encourage people- it's just to give all glory and praise and honor to the only One who has ever and will ever deserve it- Jesus.
Graduation is full of celebration. Parents, friends, teachers, they all applaud when you parade around the gym in a fancy dress and when you receive your diploma- but to You, Jesus, we all stand and offer our loudest applause. In a world that is always changing, I just want to give all praise to the One who never will.
"I am alpha and the omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
